The general objective of the project is to stimulate local development and increase the competitiveness of Craiova by preserving, protecting and sustainably capitalising on the local cultural heritage and promoting elements of cultural identity. Thus, the project’s objective is to highlight Nicolae Romanescu Park – one of the flagship objectives of Craiova and considered one of the most representative landscape art monuments in Romania. From the point of view of the historical criterion, it can be considered that the Romanescu Park as a reference in the European heritage of historical gardens and parks, while, from the point of view of architectural qualities and landscapes, it is a reservation that must be preserved and restored. Nicolae Romanescu Park is located in the southern part of Craiova, at the end of the central street of the city – the path of Unirii, in 1 Mai district being considered among the most valuable monuments of landscape architecture of the country. Nicolae Romanescu Park became the main attraction in Craiova, being considered one of the most valuable landscape architecture monuments in the country due to its picturesque and impressive dimensions for an urban garden. Inside the park there are several stand-alone sights that bring a plus to the charm of the place and together form a special tourist ensemble. The rehabilitation of the suspended bridge in Romanescu Park is a priority for Craiova, aiming at the completion of all rehabilitation and enhancement operations of the historical monument of importance A – Nicolae Romanescu Park. The suspended bridge connects two of the hills in the park and is a bridge over the lake that spans about 4 hectares. By carrying out the rehabilitation works of the Suspended Bridge, several objectives will be achieved both regarding the safety of the operation and the stability of the bridge and its harmonious integration into the historical monument of the park. The Romantic style of the Park stands out predominantly on the Suspended Bridge from where an excellent view of the lake with water lilies opens where visitors can sail as well as alleys with chestnuts, Mestecans and other species of secular trees.
