SUSTAINABLE USE OF THE HISTORICAL MONUMENT DIANU HOUSE IN CRAIOVA, DOLJ COUNTY BY CREATING A MUSEUM OF ROMANIAN BOOK AND EXILE AND ITS INTRODUCTION INTO THE TOURIST CIRCUIT

The project “Sustainable valorisation of the historical monument Casa Dianu in Craiova, Dolj County through the creation of a Museum of Book and Romanian Exile and its introduction into the tourist circuit” has as general objective the sustainable valorisation of the historical monument of local importance Casa Dianu in Craiova, Dolj County, in order to boost local development by increasing the number of visitors and intensifying economic activities during the implementation and sustainability period. The specific objectives of the project are: OS1: restoration and consolidation of the historic monument Casa Dianu (LMI Code DJ-II-m-B-07926) in Craiova; OS2: sustainable valorisation of the historic monument Casa Dianu for tourism purposes by establishing the Museum of Book and Romanian Exile within its premises, thus contributing to the improvement of the urban environment; OS3: increase the contribution of Casa Dianu to local development by attracting an increased number of visitors after the completion of the project, with an average growth rate of 20 % annually. According to the Applicant’s Guide for the call for projects POR/2016/5/5.1/1, the investment priority 5.1 – Conservation, protection, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage has the specific objective of stimulating local development by preserving, protecting and enhancing cultural heritage and cultural identity. Through both the general and the specific objectives, the project meets the objective of the investment priority as set out in the guide and programme documents. Also, by boosting local development and intensifying economic activities during the implementation and sustainability period, the project will contribute to the overall objective of the 2014-2020 ROP, namely to increase economic competitiveness and improve the living conditions of local and regional communities by supporting the development of the business environment, infrastructure conditions and services, ensuring a sustainable development of the regions, capable of efficiently managing resources, exploiting their potential for innovation and assimilation of technological progress. The project will lead to the achievement of the proposed indicators, namely 1 objective of enhanced, protected or restored cultural heritage (Historical Monument Class B) and the increase of the number of visitors from 55 in 2016 to 120 at the completion of the project, respectively 1200 in the first year of sustainability followed by an annual increase of 20 %, reaching 3600 in 10 years, thus contributing to the achievement of programme indicators ROP 2014-2020, namely: restored cultural heritage objectives/objectives; increase the expected number of visits to cultural and natural heritage objectives and supported attractions/visits/year or increase the number of heritage objectives in s
