The general objective of the project is to increase the accessibility of rural areas located close to the TEN-T corridor (Constanţa – Tulcea – Brăila – Galati) by upgrading the county road section DJ229 Valea Teilor – Nicolae Bălcescu. The modernisation of this section of the county road will contribute to the development of the business environment, labour mobility, maintenance and creation of new jobs, improving the living standards of the local population. The construction of the county road sections DJ 229 (Niculiţel, Valea Teilor, Izvoarele, Nalbat, Mihai Bravu, Sarichioi) which is the only road access for these localities and the shortest connection is a priority because the existing road is degraded and others are cobbled or from the ground, not ensuring the normal conditions of comfort and safety. The rehabilitation works proposed by the project for the route Valea Teilor – Nicolae Bălcescu aim to bring the road systems to the technical parameters corresponding to the category of road, thus ensuring optimal conditions of safety and comfort in road and pedestrian traffic, as well as substantial reduction of travel time by streamlining traffic. The project proposes the rehabilitation of the road structure, the dimensioning so as to comply with the conditions imposed by the standards in the viguars, the connection of geometric elements in the plane and longitudinal profile, the drainage and discharge of river waters, the classification of the platform for technical class IV, road marking and signalling and information. The location of the access roads, which is the subject of this project, is located in the geomorphic unit of Northern Dobrogea and is presented as a hilly region with medium slopes. Roads generally follow the terrain, with no particular geomorphic characteristics affecting the overall stability of the area. In order to achieve the general objective, we have identified the section Valea Teilor – Nicolae Bălcescu requiring modernisation.
