The general objective of the project is the rehabilitation of the road infrastructure, including the creation of dedicated lanes for public transport, the construction of cycle paths and the rehabilitation of sidewalks, on the corridors served by public transport in the municipality of Buzau. The main aim will be to reduce GHG emissions and promote sustainable urban mobility by making integrated investments in urban public transport infrastructure and cycling and pedestrian-specific infrastructure in order to ensure the free and safe movement of people, while protecting the environment, crucial to the quality of life of the citizens of the municipality of Buzau. Thus, the aim is to improve the efficiency of public passenger transport, its frequency and journey times, its accessibility, its transfer from private transport by car, and the transfer to non-motorised modes of transport. It will also aim to make the use of cars a less attractive option in terms of economic and journey times compared to the use of public transport/non-motorised modes, thereby creating the conditions for reducing car numbers and reducing CO2-equivalent emissions and meeting specific objective 4.1 of the Investment Priority 4e.
