General objective: Increasing the accessibility of the municipalities of Corod and Draguseni located close to the TEN-T networks – European road E 87 and European road E 85 by upgrading the functional section of the DJ 251A county road (km 16+ 000-32+ 000). This section through the national road DN 24D ensures connectivity with the port of Galati. The planned results and proposed activities will lead to the achievement of the specific objective of Priority Axis 6: Improving the road infrastructure of regional importance, Investment Priority 6.1, Boosting regional and tertiary mobility to TEN-T infrastructure and to develop a more efficient freight transport alternative in terms of cost/time ratio of the largest vegetable area in the area of Moldova and Galati port. The project contributes to the achievement of the programme indicators and will have beneficial effects on the socio-economic evolution of the adjacent area crossed by the proposed section for rehabilitation and modernisation. Considering the proposed works for OS1, it is proposed to improve the parameters of the modernised road as follows: The current viability status of the proposed section for rehabilitation and modernisation is poor, most of which show significant degradation of the roadway and the duration of operation expired in 1967-1975. In addition, the county road section is dimensioned in conditions of low traffic intensity and tonnage, corresponding to their initial execution period, the traffic having experienced a real explosion after 1980 after the development of the Matca-Corod legumicole area. Due to this situation found in the field and on the basis of the observations recorded by the technical surveys carried out, it is found that it is circulating at low speed due to the defects characteristic of these types of clothing. The modernisation of the road segment will be able to ensure a constant travel speed, the design speed being 60 km/h, representing an increase of over 53 % compared to the speed at which it is currently circulating. — Increasing the load-bearing capacity of the functional section considering that the modernisation works will ensure an asphalt clothing throughout the route, this will increase the load-bearing capacity of the road, especially on the balastat road sectors or the seriously affected asphalt mixture. The proposed technical solution for rehabilitation and modernisation took into account current traffic indices (according to traffic study data) but especially forecasts that require increasing the load-bearing capacity of the route in order to ensure safe traffic conditions and respecting the design operating parameters that are updated to the current required traffic requirements. Freight traffic indices are expected to increase, this functional section representing a viable economic alternative for the transport of goods and persons connecting between
