Increasing the accessibility of Tirgu Bujor and the communes of Virlezi, Mastacani, Firtanesti and Foltesti located close to the TEN-T networks – European road E 581 and European road E 87 by upgrading the county road DJ 242 in a period of 34 months. Falling within the general lines of the financing programme, through the expected results and the general objective that the project aims to achieve, we can say that the initiative of Galati County Council will contribute to the achievement of the specific objective of Priority Axis 6: Improving road infrastructure of regional importance, Investment Priority 6.1, Boosting regional mobility by connecting secondary and third-party nodes to TEN-T infrastructure, by: The county road section proposed for modernisation will provide more indirect connectivity to the TEN-T network: the first indirect connectivity of the road to the extended TEN-T network is achieved through DN26A, which crosses the city of Galati and provides connectivity with the European road E87 Galați – Vama Giurgiulesti (Rep. Moldova) and the port of Galati connected to the Trans-European Rin Corridor -Main – Danube. This indirect connectivity represents the unique and most economical route (44 km to the TEN-T network) that connects the local communities located on the road section modernised by the project with European road road E 581 with junction through DN 24D in the municipality of Barlad; a Second connectivity ensures the connection of the section of the county road rehabilitated with the European road E581 Tisita – Tecuci- Barlad – Vama Albita (Republic of Moldova) through the national road DN 24D; thirdly, the county road segment DJ 242 Foltesti-Vii will be used as the shortest connecting route between Customs Oancea (Republic of Moldova) through DN 26A and Tecuci municipality (connected to the TEN-T network, E581). This route uses a section of road rehabilitated within the 2007-2013 ROP between the communes of Cudalbi – Baleni and will also lead to decongestion of traffic contributes to facilitating access to the county centre and to Tecuci. — increasing the safety of traffic between the localities Virlezi, Tirgu Bujor, Umbraresti, Viile, Firtanesti, Foltesti Galați county; — reducing the travel time between the localities Virlezi, Tirgu Bujor, Umbraresti, Vii, Firtanesti, Foltesti on the modernised road sector and thus increasing the mobility of the population, goods and services to and in Galati (TEN-T connectivity through E87) and the municipality of Barlad, Vaslui County (TEN-T connectivity through E581); — improving the living and activity conditions in the geographical area crossed by the modernised county road sector by facilitating access to various objectives of social, economic, tourist interest (Tirgu Bujor town and the communes of Virlezi, Umbraresti, Vii, Firtanesti, Foltesti); — creating the prerequisites for sustainable local development
