“Rehabilitation and modernisation of regional transport infrastructure on the Buciumeni-Nicoresti-Cosmesti-Movileni-Barcea route”

Improving the basic physical infrastructure through rehabilitation and modernisation of the DJ 252 county road sections located between Buciumeni – Nicoresti – Cosmesti – Movileni – Barcea localities, in order to ensure connectivity to the TEN-T network. The creation and improvement of the transport infrastructure is part of the prerequisites of adapting the national road transport system to European standards. The construction of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is a major project of the European Union which is an important factor for stimulating the economic competitiveness and sustainable development of the European space. Ten-T requires the interconnection and interoperability of and access to national transport networks. Connecting to the TEN-T network requires a modern infrastructure, capable of taking on fast-growing traffic, ensuring the conditions for the economic and social development of the area and helping to mitigate the negative effects of transport on the environment. Achieving these objectives involves making significant investments in the rehabilitation and modernisation of the current road infrastructure. Falling within the general lines of the financing programme, through the expected results and the general objective that the project aims to achieve, we can say that the initiative of Galati County Council to rehabilitate and modernise the county road sections DJ 252 will contribute to the achievement of the specific objective of Priority Axis 6: Improving road infrastructure of regional importance, Investment Priority 6.1, Boosting regional mobility by connecting secondary and third-party nodes to TEN-T infrastructure. Thus, DJ 252 County Road provides the following types of connectivity to the TEN-T network: — direct connectivity with the TEN-T network intersecting with the national road DN 24 (E 581) in front of the Cosmesti ATU (a aspect also mentioned in the Regional Development Plan 2014-2020 – RDP Annexes – Support documents, Chapter 2 – Annex 2 County roads connected to the TEN-T South-East Network); indirect connectivity with the TEN-T network through DN 24 (E581) which connects the national road DN 2 (E 85) and Vrancea county; — indirect connectivity with the TEN-T network through DN 25 that connects with the municipality of Galati and implicitly with the national road DN22B (Galati – Braila), the CF line Faurei – Galati and the Rhine-Danube channel. Also, the county road DJ 252 represents the most economical link of the communities located on the routes covered by this project with the TEN-T corridor, with shorter length compared to the existing alternative routes (ex. 1: Movileni → TEN-T on the DJ252=14 km route from DJ 252+DN 25=24 km; E.g. 2: Nicoresti → TEN-T on the DJ252=8 km route from DJ 252+DN 252G=16 km). Improvement of basic physical infrastructure on DJ 252 county road will develop transport infrastructure and
