The process of modernising passenger rail services is ongoing in Croatia due to the technical characteristics and comfort of the old fleet not meeting passengers’ expectations. The majority of vehicles are old, average age for most types of vehicles is over 30 years and some vehicle types are close to the end of their economic life. HŽPP intends to modernise its electric car fleet with 21 new starter electric trains (EMV) with this project. the total value of the project is estimated at 1.293.862.793,99 HRK, out of which eligible costs are HRK 1.035.687.620,00, ineligible for HRK 258.175.173,99. Ineligible costs relate to VAT. Eligible costs will be financed from the KFU of HRK 880.334.477,00 and DP 155.353.143,00.
