Self-government without barriers

The aim of the project is to improve the accessibility of local government offices for people with special needs. The project will be implemented in partnership between two institutions: 1) the Ministry of the Interior and Administration performing the tasks of the project beneficiary (Minister of SWiA) and 2) the Institute of Regional Development Foundation – a partner of the project selected by the Ministry of Interior and Administration in the competition procedure specified in Art. 33 par. 2 of the Act on the principles of implementation of programmes in the field of cohesion policy financed in the financial perspective 2014-2020The project has been divided into 2 key stages of implementation of the following tasks:- as part of the first stage, an Accessibility Manual will be drawn up to the JST, which will be prepared by representatives of the project team as well as external experts. The document will be prepared in 2020 and will then be made available to JST and applicants interested in carrying out a similar project in the competition mode (the national grant competition); – as part of the second stage, training and advisory support for representatives of 36 JST offices (pilot) will be planned, in which the review and updating/development of procedures supporting the accessibility of the office to clients and special needs. As a result of the training and advisory process, the authorities will obtain comprehensive knowledge and tools to facilitate the implementation of solutions improving the availability of services provided by the JST (fulfilment of some of the obligations laid down in the Act on ensuring accessibility to persons with special needs). At the end of the project, it is envisaged to revise the developed model described in the accessibility manual based on the experience gained during the project.
