Rainwater management system in the City of Sulejówek

The aim of the project is to develop the rainwater management system in the City of Sulejówka, thanks to which the city’s resistance to flooding and flooding will be improved, while at the same time it will be possible to retain water and use it during dry periods. The project will contribute to increasing the socio-economic development potential of the city by ensuring the management and discharge of rainwater and meltwater from residential, industrial and commercial and service areas and public utility. The investments concern the entire area of the city with almost 20 000 people. The implementation of the project will contribute to reducing the risk of flooding and flooding in the most vulnerable areas of the City. The planned sewerage infrastructure will allow for the take-over of waters that have so far infiltrated the sanitary sewerage network and additionally burdened waste water treatment plants. Therefore, the project can be considered to contribute to the achievement of the indicators of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, which aims, inter alia, to promote the cost-effective disposal of nutrients in waste water treatment plants. The infrastructure set up by reducing the risk of flooding and flooding serves the public interest in general and for residents of the city, economic operators and public entities irrespective of gender, origin, religion or belief, disability, age or sexual orientation. The infrastructure created as part of the project complies with the principle of universal design. Potential project users benefit from the operation of the rainwater network and the created rainwater and meltwater retention by reducing the risk of flooding and flooding without direct contact with the built infrastructure.
