The main goal of the project is to develop an innovative medical technology for the rapid detection of SARS-CoV-2 in biological samples using electrochemical biosensors. The project fits into the urgent epidemiological need — the construction of low-cost diagnostic devices allowing for sensitive and reliable diagnostics in conditions of need for immediate results (point-of-Care mode). The equipment currently used does not provide adequate measurement quality under these conditions (protein antigen diagnostics) or because of the high cost of analysis are of limited use (nucleic acid-based diagnostics). The project aims to expand the scope of research conducted by consortia and develop a biosensor cassette that enables the highly sensitive detection of SARS-CoV-2 antigens and specific antibodies and the construction of a low-cost, disposable PCR micro-measuring system to detect SARS-CoV-2 RNA. The device will be used for non-laboratory diagnostics and belong to the group of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) devices, defined as Point-of-Care (PoC) diagnostics.
