The project will build local broadband networks that allow access to fast broadband to 11 companies/employees on the Jansbo – Björsjö route. The Government has decided on the overall target for broadband in Sweden, where 95 % of all households and businesses must have access to at least 100 Mbps by 2020. In 2025, the goal is that the whole of Sweden has access to fast broadband. The EU has a goal for everyone to have access to at least 30 Mbit/s by 2020. Furthermore, the EU Commission has decided to increase access to information and communication technologies. The focus is on expanding broadband in areas where it is not commercially motivated for network operators to invest. The project seeks support for a route where no actor has shown interest in building broadband on commercial grounds. In rural and rural areas of Dalarna there are strong links between functioning broadband connection and an equal development. A weak broadband network is a structural barrier to the development of a global and more gender-equal business sector. An important and growing industry in Dalarna is the tourism industry, which is strongly international with high broadband dependence for contact with its customers. The number of female entrepreneurs and employees is high. Employment in the district is the basis for the maintenance of public services in the area, and entrepreneurship should therefore be prioritised.
