IoT Testbeds

The overall goal of the project is to increase research and development in the region by establishing test beds within – Smart Industry and Smart communities. A test bed is a physical or virtual environment where companies, academia and organisations can collaborate in research, development, testing and introduction of new products, services, processes or solutions. Test beds create opportunities for companies to develop new concepts that lead to new knowledge and strengthened competitiveness in the companies. Test beds are a natural way for small and medium-sized companies to increase their investment in R & D. IoT (Internet of Things) is a collective term for development that means that machines, vehicles, goods, household appliances, clothing and other things, as well as creatures, are provided with small built-in sensors that are connected to the Internet. In the future, IoT will include a system of wireless networks where everything is connected. In order for companies and communities to use the opportunities created, access to knowledge and infrastructure is crucial. The project also includes creating a think tank with a focus on IoT. A think tank is an organisation that is intended for research and discussion on societal issues and problems. Think tanks come with solutions to societal challenges and can conduct education and advocacy to get citizens interested and engaged in issues. The project also aims to create a structure and organisation so that these can be further developed after the end of the project.
