The overall goal of the project is that the region’s industrial companies, especially SMEs, have increased innovation capacity and become more sustainable and competitive. In co-production with industrial companies, the project aims to develop cutting-edge knowledge and industrial applications for the future in terms of sustainable distribution systems, smart production and open innovation processes, and to spread this to several of the region’s companies, especially SMEs. Sub-target 1. Develop cutting-edge expertise and applications in terms of sustainable distribution systems in the form of strategies for sustainable ports and sustainability-based collaboration between producers, distributors and customers in the distribution chain. Sub-target 2. Develop cutting-edge knowledge and applications in terms of smart production in the form of production systems based on Human Lean that combines Lean and digitalisation. Sub-target 3. Develop cutting-edge knowledge and applications in terms of open innovation processes in the form of design and sustainability-driven open innovation. Results after the project period The project is expected to result in advanced expertise and applications in the areas of sustainable distribution systems, smart production and open innovation, which have also spread to more companies, especially SMEs, in the region. This is important for various stakeholders. For the region, the project is expected to lead, for example, and increased knowledge about how companies and organisations in the region can be developed to become more competitive, and thus meet the challenges identified in Smart Specialisation. Expected long-term effects CLIP has, with support from both internal and external sources of funding, conducted research and development work in close collaboration with industry since 2009. The knowledge, experience and networks that are built up through this project thus reinforce CLIP that is expected to remain even after the project time with support from other funding. The ambition is to broaden the funding for the activities during the current project period to include several sources, including both faculty funds, public funds as well as research funds and income from companies and assignments. More specifically, this means that the Human Lean Center continues with commissioned education of companies and public administrations and to educate students at the University. Furthermore, there is expected to remain at a Transport Science Center that gathers actors and information about projects/programs in the logistics and transport sector. In addition, activities at a Living lab for design-driven bioinnovation are also expected where companies and innovators will have the opportunity to develop new products after the end of the project. Together, these activities and activities are expected to enable the project to contribute to both increased diversity and regional growth in the longer term.
