Regional Business Promotion in Dalarna

The project will strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs by developing a joint and company-oriented approach of the county’s promoters. Regional Business Centre is a concept in which the actors of the system are working on a common process in which companies are treated in a similar and traceable and predictable manner, regardless of which of the actors is the first contact. The concept will also strengthen the ability to put together and adapt services from several actors. The project will also strengthen the ability for the regional development manager to exercise regional leadership and influence the regional development system in the strategic directions expected at national and regional levels. Overall objective Strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs through a strong promotion system Project Goals Increase collaboration and efficiency in the promotion system for better service, higher added value and increased proactivity Subgoals 1: Increase the service level of the promotion system to SME companies Part goal 2: Increase the ability of the promotion system to co-created business services Part goal 3: Increase awareness of SMEs and use of the promotion system, for increased competitiveness Sub-targets 4: Strengthening conditions for regional strategic management of measures for the county’s company The project is a collaboration project between Region Dalarna and Dalarna Science Park. The project will be carried out in collaboration with the business-promoting actors. Dalarna was one of the pilot counties in the government’s investment in regional export centres. The experience and cooperation from there will be utilised and implemented in the broader structure of Regionalt Näringslivscentrum, where the export centre will be a part. Initially, a zero measurement is made around the quality of the system and a mapping and further develops the forms of collaboration between the actors. Follow-up and learning will thus become an important tool in the work. Joint development work will be carried out for long-term sustainable cooperation, including development of common processes and company-adapted services. The companies are covered partly as users of a well-functioning support system but also as participants in the project’s targeted efforts such as seminars, work-shops etc. The needs of the companies are the starting point for the project as companies demand a higher degree of coordination of the support system’s efforts. The impact of the project towards the companies is assessed as very high as participating actors provide support and advice for a large number of companies/year, and an increased service and added value can thus have great effects on the competitiveness of the companies. The expected result at the end of the project is that the Regional Business Centre has been established: — Collaboration between promoters is formally defined in a “collaboration contract”, process description and management, follow-up method and a defined management and governance system. “A functioning digital communication of the promotion system’s offerings is established as well as collaboration between existing actors on events as well as individual business affairs – Better coordination and established ability of the operators to use the entire system’s business services and to create customised services for companies. — Increased knowledge among companies about the promotion of the system’s offerings and increased regional participation in national and international financing opportunities – Increased interest in the business sector in order to develop companies towards increased competitiveness and growth, which increases turnover in participating companies through the project’s internationalisation efforts At the end of the project, the Regional Confederation Centre Dalarna will be established as an ordinary form of collaboration in the region, as an integrated part of Dalarna Science Park. With the support of a Regional Business Centre, the county’s SME companies have gained increased competitiveness, increased turnover and investments. This will be implemented so that it promotes sustainable, inclusive and gender-equal growth.
