In collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and other national and regional organisations, Gävleborg wants to establish a Regional Export Centre to strengthen the ability of small and medium-sized companies to expand their markets and strengthen their competitiveness. The overall goal of the project is that SMEs in the region have expanded their markets and strengthened their competitiveness. The goal of the project is to build up and establish a Regional Export Centre – More international SMEs (exporting/importing/cooperations) in Gävleborg (In 2015, the number of exporting companies was 740 pcs) – Increased number of companies that receive support for their internationalisation via business development checks (2016 were granted 3 companies support) The project’s milestone is to implement an annual export day as well as a number of seminars and workshops for companies, promoters and municipalities. Mapping, statistical production and dissemination of information are also the targets of the project. 600 companies will be reached by the project’s efforts in terms of initial advice and locking to the actors of the Export Centre. The project is based on identified needs from the region’s companies to make it easier for them to reach more markets and has two focus areas: Part of the project is about coordinating proactive initiatives aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises, in the form of inspiration, information, knowledge, advice and support. This work is held together and coordinated by the Middle Swedish Chamber of Commerce. ¿Another part of the project is about switching up and increasing the volume of the business development checks that companies can apply for as support for their internationalisation work and which is an important tool in the project. This part of the project is run as a framework project and is managed by Region Gävleborg. Through the project, more companies are expected to become international (exporting/importing/co-operations) in Gävleborg and the number of those receiving support for their internationalisation via business development checks has increased. At the end of the project, a Regional Export Centre is expected to have been established and knowledge and coordination between the promoters increased. The knowledge of the companies has increased where they are aimed for support in internationalisation issues, and in the longer term, more companies in Gävleborg are international.
