SVIFFT – Sweden’s Future Aerospace Industry

The project’s long-term goal is to lift Swedish Aerospace Technology to a national area of strength with high international competitiveness that creates new business for a greater breadth of Swedish companies than at present via a national overall aerospace cluster. After the end of the project, at least 80 companies and 2 universities in the Västra Götaland region and region Östergötland will participate in a national cluster cooperation for aerospace technology. At the end of the project, one third of these have developed new innovations and business with a clear environmental focus as a result. The project team consists of representatives from the Regions of Eastern and Western Sweden and is led by Aerospace Cluster Sweden and Innovatum AB with Swerea SICOMP and Swerea IVF as leader of the production arenas for composite materials (Compraser Labs) and metallic materials, (PTC, Produktionstekniskt Centrum). The activities focus on collaboration between the regions and the start-up of a national aerospace cluster where companies, cluster leaders and researchers at the production arenas are engaged in joint workshops, fairs and business projects and in some selected pilot projects bring research results to the market. As support, a “virtual project room” is established for effective collaboration across the country and so-called “SMF automation lab” at the arenas to be used by companies and researchers in the innovation processes.
