Sustainable snowmobile tourism in Frostviken

The project is an investment in the tourism industry in the Frostviken area where snowmobile tourism has in recent years become an important part of the tourism industry. Through the project, Strömsund Municipality, together with the area’s companies and in cooperation with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, wants to make a greater investment in the tourism industry and develop Frostviken as a destination with a focus on sustainable snowmobile tourism with regard to the environment and landowners in the area. The goal of the project is to: — Create a well-functioning organisation with good host that increases the turnover and employment opportunities of nutrition and create conditions for new establishments. — Build a safe and informative system with supervision and payment systems to have better overview and control of the area and minimise damage to the environment. — Development of sustainable eco-smart economically profitable products – Form an information programme linked to the products in cooperation with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency to safeguard the environment and with a focus on geography, nature and safety, which gives the Frostviken area unique products and development opportunities. The project is based on the business community’s need for a structure and organisation to develop tourism in Frostviken.
