Smart – Smart systems and services for an efficient and innovative society

The starting point for the project is to be able to meet the global challenges posed by the rapid pace of development in smart systems (measuring technology, embedded systems, wireless communication, Internet of Things). The participating companies in the project have participated in the design of projects through Open Innovation Day, where companies and researchers meet and exchange information. At these discussions, three focus areas have been identified as a continued important research in Middle Norrland. These areas are: — efficient production – smart communities – monitoring large areas (focus wind power) The overall goal is to contribute to a sustainable society. The project goals are – increased FOU competence in companies within smart systems, in order to strengthen their competitiveness – strengthen the national competence centre STC at Mid Sweden University. In order to achieve the goals, the project, in collaboration between companies and universities, will develop demonstrators in selected focus areas. To ensure the exchange of competence and innovation, companies get a doctoral student as a frontier between themselves and academia. Results: several new smart products and services, several companies in the region that use smart systems, several companies with strengthened collaboration with Mid Sweden University and increased FOU. Results are also expected to increase the turnover of companies, create new companies and several jobs.
