The Wood Region (TWR) – development center for timber and fibre-based biocomposite

The overall objective is to improve the region’s total return on the rich natural resources in the form of large forest areas. The region is successful in the paper, pulp and packaging industries, but needs to improve the value added for the large share of forest raw materials that lead through the sawmill and timber industries. The overall goals of the project contribute to sustainable regional growth and the goals of the Europe 2020 strategy. The project goal is to establish a development centre, The Wood Region (TWR), in northern Värmland, for timber products and fibre-based biocomposite, which holds together and develops SMF in the wood industry in central Sweden. TWT will promote contacts between SMEs in the wood industry, between the wood industry and other industries that demand components and materials, between companies and research/education, etc.
