Excellent Building Region

Goal The project’s overall objectives: Dalarna will be a national leading region for climate-smart, efficient construction in 2020. Sub-targets: — Develop a sustainable structure for collaboration between industry actors within the cluster. — Create an innovation platform and try real cases. — Implement development processes to create housing for older, more and better wooden buildings, smarter management and good financing models. — Develop and implement two skills exchange programmes – Develop more national and international networks. Working methods In the project, a number of processes have been formulated where the implementation undergoes different phases. Step one creates a well-functioning network where parties feel security. In the next phase, external analyses are carried out, where skills development efforts are initiated based on the challenges that are captured. Action plans are then formulated with concrete measures, which are implemented according to the planned activity and timetable. The construction process is proven and evaluated. The results are good and confirm its strength. The working methods are well known within Region Dalarna, Dalarna County Administrative Board and in the industry. Activities Examples of activities that the project will conduct are study trips, skills exchange efforts, development of the innovation platform, process for developing financing models for more construction and development of cluster collaboration. Regional business community The association Builtialog Dalarna is well rooted in the construction sector in Dalarna with its 100 members Through various initiatives from, among others, Region Dalarna, there are also established relationships with other cluster initiatives and innovation environments in Northern Central Sweden. Expected results and benefits At the end of the project, a structured development process towards sustainable construction in all three dimensions will have been developed and tested. The theme groups will work operationally with development issues in order to achieve the national/international energy and climate goals. At the end of the project, a well-functioning innovation platform for the industry segments will be available. Through the platform, collaboration between actors in the innovation environment has improved and small and medium-sized enterprises participate in innovation processes that aim for future customer requirements, both environmentally and for different groups in society. The innovation system takes advantage of the diversity of different competencies. Expected long term effects Dalarna will nationally/internationally be perceived as “The Excellent Building Region”. New knowledge is created by taking advantage of the diversity of different competencies. These knowledge together with research, innovations and customer requirements are implemented in the sector, which, for example, leads to: — demo facilities are established. — Dalarna’s construction industry has cost-effective rational building processes and growth in the manufacturing industry that is generated through the manufacture of non-toxic, energy-smart products and construction components. — the indoor environment of new buildings must be designed and constructed in such a way that they do not cause health problems (moisture, noise, ventilation and radon). Construction of cost-effective accommodation for everyone! (Youths, students, elderly, newly arrived, disabled). — Tested, efficient IT tools are widely used for streamlining all stages of the construction and management process and contribute to, among other things, lower lifecycle costs. “It has created a genuinely sustainable energy system with active collaboration between suppliers and consumers through structures where everyone sees the societal benefits of energy efficiency.
