The project is the next stage of investment activities of the company “Koleje Mazowieckie – KM” sp. z o.o. consisting of modernisation of the EN57 series electric traction units used in agglomeration traffic. The Project’s material scope includes the modernisation of the 39 EZT type EN57 during maintenance level V repairs. In addition, the project provides for the implementation of information and promotional activities. In the financial perspective 2007-2013 as part of the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment and the Regional Operational Programme of Mazovia Voivodeship, the Company implemented three projects covering its scope of modernisation of most of the EN57 electric traction units (including EN57KM and EN71KM). A detailed investment goal of the project “Modernisation of 39 Electric Traction Teams” is to modernise the EN57 series of vehicles used in agglomeration traffic, with the aim of increasing the efficiency of rolling stock by reducing the level of failure and improving the comfort of travel. After carrying out this project, taking into account previous investments, by the end of 2017 the company “Koleje Mazowieckie – KM” sp. z o.o. will have fully upgraded rolling stock of the EN57/EN57KM series, which, despite regular purchases of new vehicles, will still constitute the largest share in the carrier’s rolling stock park. The project covers mainly the area of the Warsaw metropolitan area and the area of impact of the Warsaw metropolitan area. Modernised electric traction units will be operated on all electrified sections of railway lines, where services in the field of public transport are provided by the Company “Koles Mazowieckie – KM” sp. z o.o. to the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. The project includes the modernisation of 39 EZT EN57 series during maintenance V repairs and promotional activities.
