Support for the development of the emergency medical system

This project is implemented throughout the country, covering 237 sites of the emergency medical care system. The aim of the project is to ensure quality, equal and timely access to the services of AMS for citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria and residing on its territory in accordance with the strategic guidelines and objectives of the National Health Strategy 2020, the Concept for Development of the Emergency Medical System in the Republic of Bulgaria 2014-2020 and the National Health Card. This will be achieved through the implementation of three main components: Component No 1 — interventions in the infrastructure of the AMS system of type 1 (out-patient care) — 27 emergency medical centres in the county towns with their 170 branches and 6 outsourced teams in the municipalities, as well as type 2 (emergency departments in medical institutions with more than 50 % state capital participation) through construction (including new buildings), reconstruction, repair, reconstruction, improvement of access for disabled persons to buildings, subject of intervention and the adjacent surrounding space.COMPONENT No 2 — Modernisation of the premises by supplying equipment and furnishing for the sites of the first and second types.COMPONENT No 3 — Purchase of modern medical vehicles provided with equipment and medical equipment for SMP.They comply with the requirements of the Medical Standard “Emergency Medicine” and the best European practices and requirements for timeliness, sufficiency, quality and safety. The target groups are: all potential users of the AMS services of the country, residents and tourists; staff in the AMS system and the healthcare system; people with various chronic diseases with an increased risk of crisis conditions and their families. The project will provide equal 30-minute access to EMF for 24-hour diagnosis, monitoring and treatment and will contribute to reducing the number of hospitalisations in the system.
