The main objective of the implementation of the DCOM IS expansion project (hereinafter referred to as DCOM+) is the migration of IS DCOM into the government cloud and, at the same time, the migration of ISVS municipalities and towns of the Slovak Republic to the government cloud, allowing about 1000 other municipalities and cities to use the existing solution for the electronic exercise of public authority. This solution is already proven by the practice of the DCOM project and offers the best benefit/cost ratio for cities and municipalities. Another aim of the project is to complement infrastructure facilities for municipalities and towns (including about 1474 municipalities and cities already involved in the original DCOM project) within the rationalisation of the operation of the government cloud and the DCOM IS solution. By connecting other municipalities and cities to the IS DCOM, there will be a simplification of the IS architecture of municipalities and cities, as they will become a consumer of cloud services in the environment of the government cloud. The DCOM+ project thus brings to fulfill the specific objective of OPII 7.8 The rationalisation of the operation of information systems through eGovernment cloud. The use of the shared government cloud platform will facilitate the use of ICT and will minimise the management and maintenance of public administration information systems. The government cloud will become a tool for the efficient construction and operation of information systems, while achieving high security, protection of personal data and other sensitive information.
