The project "HYFLEX - Flexible Hydrogen Storage for Power-to-X and Grid Optimization" will build on European Energy's existing PtX plant at Kassø in Aabenraa Municipality, establish a hydrogen storage and related hydrogen compressors with a storage capacity of 10 tonnes (500 MWh), and expand the existing methanol plant with 10MW of new electrolysis capacity. At the same time, the project will ensure an optimal balancing of the plant in relation to the public electricity grid. Specifically, the project will create the basis for a partial decoupling of the PtX plant's operation from the current electricity production, which contributes to reducing the energy costs associated with large-scale electrolysis in Denmark.
