Overall objective of the project: it consisted of continuing the development of the water and wastewater infrastructure in Ilfov County, by increasing the level of collection and treatment of urban waste water, as well as the degree of ensuring the supply of drinking water to the population, in order to meet the requirements of the environmental acquis of the European Union and the commitments made through the environmental sector, in the context of Priority Axis 3 LIOP/Thematic Objective 6ii. The investments included in this project continue the process of expanding and rehabilitating the water and wastewater infrastructure realised in the 2007-2013 phase and are proposing investments in the expansion/establishment of water supply and sewerage systems in rural areas. Specific project objectives and result indicators: ensuring access to the public service of quality water supply in the project area, microbiologically controlled and provided safely, in accordance with Directive 98/83/EC, with an increase in the connection rate from 80 % before the project to 93 % after the project; increase the level of collection and treatment of waste water in the project area and improve the quality of effluents, in accordance with Directive 91/271/EEC, in the agglomerations of Afumati Ganeasa, where the connection rate will increase from 17 % before the project to 95 % after the project. reducing water losses in the project area, from 45.5 % before the project to 42.2 % after the project; reduce infiltration into sewage networks in the project area from 28.2 % before the project to 13.3 % after the project; optimisation of the officials and operation of water and sanitation systems, in which investments are proposed; — realisation of 3 local dispatches; improve sludge management in the OR’s operating area.
