Ecoregion SKAT - Strengthening cooperation in the field of ecotourism in the cross-border region of Slovakia and Austria

The project area, including three border regions — Burgenland, Lower Austria and the self-governing region of Bratislava, has two national parks — Donau-Auen National Park (hereinafter only “NP Donau-Auen”) and National Park Neusiedler See-Seewinkel (hereinafter only “NP Neusiedler See-Seewinkel”) and part of the Donau-Auen landscape protection area (hereinafter only “CHKO Donau-Auen”), which spread over a total area of 533.8 km². Nature tourism in this area hides a significant potential for further development and improvement of the quality of existing services, by improving cooperation between the administrative bodies of national parks and protected landscape areas (CHKO), coordinated raising of public awareness of environmental protection and development of ecotourism and environmental protection education infrastructure, through which the objectives of the proposed project are presented.
