The project is the third phase of the Integrated System of Sofia Municipality (SO) and includes the construction of a modern facility for the recovery of RDF fuel produced in the MBT waste plant of the CO (2nd phase) and the production of heat and electricity. The electricity produced will be provided to the national electricity grid and heat to a district heating network on the territory of the CO. The installation is a ‘waste for energy-generating’ solution and has the following preconditions: Amount of RDF to be recovered: 180 000 t/year; Total availability of the installation: 8 000 h/year; Calorific value of RDF: Nominal-13GJ/t, deviation between 10GJ/t and 16GJ/t.The project consists of the following main systems: • Storage bunker RDF;• Furnace (technology for burning mobile grill with a capacity of 22.5 m/h at 13MJ/kg);• Botel (horizontal steam with parameters: 100 t/h, 60 bar, 425 °C);• Flue-gas treatment (reactor, bag filter, flue gas capacitor);• Chimney-wet 80 m;• Turbine/generator (electricity generation, gross 21MWe); • Heat energy production with capacity 55MWt;• Heat battery, storage capacity 230 MWh; • Support equipment (cooling system, UPS, cranes, etc.).The installation will be located on a site owned by Toplofikatsia Sofia EAD with a total construction area of about 19 000 m². The main production-administrative building, reception room, modified fuel bunker, bottom ash warehouse, diesel-generator fuel tanks and ammonia water, heat accumulator, electronic scales and transport area will be located within the site. The installation is intended to have appropriate control and monitoring of pollution, soil, air and water.
