“Project for rehabilitation of the water supply and sewerage network with construction of WWTP for the town of Asenovgrad, Bulgaria” was designed to overcome the problems related to the existing drinking and waste water infrastructure on the territory of the town of Asenovgrad and to ensure environmentally friendly treatment and discharge of municipal waste water. The main activities envisaged within the project are the following:1. Rehabilitation of a water supply network with expired service life, which is located in one route with the sewerage system subject to replacement. 2. Rehabilitation of the expired mixed sewer network. Extension of the existing network to the proposed site of the future waste water treatment plant in combination with the closure of existing waste water discharges into the river and the replacement/rehabilitation and extension of existing urban collectors according to future hydraulic needs. 3. Construction of WWTP for 65 350 p.e., with mechanical and biological step and degree of purification, meeting the requirements of Directive 91/271/EEC, including leading technical infrastructure. As a result of the implementation of the project will be achieved improvement of the quality of life of the population on the territory of the town of Asenovgrad, overcoming the health and environmental risks and providing quality environmental services to the citizens as the main target group. which will be served by the rehabilitated water supply infrastructure is 2,645 permanent inhabitants. The estimated number of population, which will be served by the rehabilitated mixed system, is 49 626 permanent inhabitants. The purification plant will serve 65 350 p.e.
