PROJECT FOR EXTENSION OF LINE 2 OF THE SOFIA METRO, SECTION “JAMES BAUCHER” TO “VITOSHA” MS — PHASE 2

This proposal concerns Phase 2 of the Sofia Metro Line 2 Extension Project, section “James Baucher” to the “Vitosha” Council of Ministers with a length of 1.3 km and 1 metro station, included for funding under OP “Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014-2020. as, through the possibilities of the so-called “reverse phase”, Phase 1 is financed under OP “Transport” 2007-2013. The project includes the underground section of Line 2 south of “James Baucher” in the direction of a ring road to the “Vitosha” MS, located below the junction between Cherni Vrah Blvd and Srebarna Street. With the implementation of the section from “James Baucher” to the Council of Ministers “Vitosha” continues the phased implementation of the metro network, set in the GSP and the short-term programme of the CB as the backbone of the transport and communication system of the city. In order to quickly restore the traffic on the extremely busy Cherni Vrah Blvd, Henrik Ibsen Blvd. and Srebarna Str. and the earlier start of the construction, it was necessary to divide the project implementation into two phases:- Phase 1 — includes the activities related to the preparation of project, the selection of contractors, the reconstruction of the engineering networks, the construction of the road and the construction of them. Phase 1 representing 48.5 % of the whole project (according to Table 19 in point 7.3. of Appendix 4) was completed at the end of 2015 — Phase 2 represents 51.5 % of the entire project and includes the complete completion of the project, after the implementation of Phase 1 — the architectural design of the Vitosha Council, the equipment of the section and the metro station with systems for operation by parts: Track and contact rail; Dispatching systems; A link with the CSR; Radio communication system; Electricity supply system; Traffic automation and train speed control systems; Complex audiovisual systems; Low current systems for metro operation and complex testing and commissioning of the section.
