Satakunta Testbed is a unique first testbed environment in Finland, involving specialised medical care, county cities and municipalities, higher and secondary education institutions, and private enterprises and organisations. Satakunta Testbed focuses on robotics, artificial intelligence and data analytics in the national testbed network. This choice has been positively welcomed and encouraged by the existing national testbed network. This testbed consortium enables companies and researchers from Satakunta, national and international in particular to have diverse and attractive product development and research environments for the social and health sector. The project will model the systematic operation of testbed operations throughout the province. The project provides the Satan social services organisations with the opportunity to develop a common testbed approach. The project pilots technology solutions together with healthcare professionals, technology companies and educational institutions, universities and development actors. The aim is to develop the competence of current and future healthcare professionals in the region, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and data analytics by involving professionals and students in testingbed activities. The project also promotes the sustainable development of the local economic fabric and the development of intangible products and services. After the project, Satakunta will have a single testbed consortium to support RDI infrastructure, where testingbed activities are provided by private, third and public sector operators, as well as secondary and higher education institutions and business companies. The Testbed is modelled on a wide range of research, development and testing services that meet the criteria of Business Finland’s national testing activities. The attractiveness of the area is supported by branding the provincial testbed under the Satakunta Testbed brand. International networks related to testbed activities will also be developed and membership of the European Network of Living Labs will be sought. The project also produces a nationally unique service directory for technology services, where healthcare operators can find the health and wellbeing technology they need. The project results in a vibrant and diverse Satakunta-based testbed consortium that attracts national and international actors to research, develop and test well-being and health technologies with its systematic operating models. As a result of Testbed, social and health professionals and students will become more technology-friendly and better understanding of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and data analytics. Their introduction will also lead to higher labour productivity. Services that better meet customers’ needs contribute to the effectiveness of services and thus to well-being in the region.
