Strengthening China’s competitiveness

The interest of Chinese companies and investors in Lapland has increased considerably in recent years. Kemi’s biodiesel investment and cooperation between Lapland University of Applied Sciences and the University of Applied Sciences in China are excellent examples of this and they bring new, significant opportunities for cooperation. However, the Chinese market carries particular risks and its success requires special expertise. The aim of the project is to improve the conditions for attracting new investments, for educational exports, for university cooperation and for inbound & outbound companies by increasing the participants’ market know-how and networks in a targeted manner. The measures are: 1) to increase know-how with China Excellence toolkits through coaching and studies to address market risks, 2) marketing and sales support through the production of digital Chinese-language marketing material for the market on investment sites, partners’ offerings and business opportunities, and 3) strengthening networks by bringing together the province’s expertise in China and finding new partnerships on the market through market surveys and a partnership map. • 5-10 digital guides, studies or tutorials on agreed topics • new potential trade relations with China • expand the knowledge and partnership network of participants in China. In the long run, the project will result in greater competitiveness of SMEs in the region on the Chinese market through market know-how and new and strengthened public-private networks. The project will make it easier to establish successful relations with China and make the province more competitive in terms of market investments and partnerships.
