Development of an innovative extended Spectrum Surveillance System to foster entrepreneurship through the electronic communications sector

The project aims to develop and operate in Greece a technologically innovative, modern and geographically extended Spectrum Surveillance System (SEFE), which will fully meet the existing and expected requirements to support and promote the digital economy and entrepreneurship. Internationally and in Greece, the dynamics of the electronic communications sector and the particular importance of frequency spectrum-based infrastructures, through which broadband services and innovative applications are made available to businesses and citizens, are of paramount importance for creating the conditions for accelerating the recovery and consolidating sustainable growth. The environment of increasing convergence is based on the almost universal deployment of wireless network infrastructure capable of supporting the provision of modern, broadband services and applications with the highest possible degree of availability, reliability, speed and quality, as well as serving all existing ones, as well as meeting the expected needs of the modern (corporate and household) consumer even in a situation of increased mobility. As a result, extensive use of spectrum is required, which becomes the key, scarce national resource for the rapid and efficient (wireless) provision of services. At the same time, frequency spectrum availability and quality control is becoming an enabler of transformation and growth for the rest of the economy. Undertakings in the electronic communications sector that use the frequency spectrum to provide access to (broadband) networks and services require the swift, transparent and equitable handling of spectrum assignment requests and the absence of interference with the frequencies assigned to them in order to make efficient (uninterrupted and uninterrupted) deployment.
