TULCEA PORT UPGRADE – FROM 38+ 1530 MM TO 38+ 800 MM

General objective of the project/Project purpose According to: The strategic objectives at European and national level in terms of sustainable transport development, the trends recorded in the evolution of the demand for freight and passenger transport at the level of Tulcea Port (taking into account also the local potential), the obligations incumbent on UAT Tulcea County, as owner of the port infrastructure, the objective of the project is to modernise and develop the port infrastructure serving freight vessel traffic and passenger vessel traffic, according to the current and forecast volume of demand, in order to increase the efficiency and safety of port operations. Indirectly, the modernisation of the port infrastructure creates the prerequisites for the development of passenger shipping services, by increasing the number of daily voyages and, as the case may be, the capacity of ships. According to LIOP, the project is relevant because it contributes to increasing the use of the port infrastructure by passengers, given that, in the project implementation area, shipping is the only way of moving.
