The general objective of the project is to develop the transport infrastructure of Traian Vuia Timisoara International Airport by purchasing modern security and safety equipment PSI, in order to ensure an extended air traffic in maximum safe conditions and an adequate degree of security, in accordance with European and national regulations in the field of air transport. The project “PSI and INTEGRATED SYSTEM for the SECURITY CONTROL” at Traian Vuia Timisoara International Airport contributes to the achievement of the specific OS 2.3 objective of the LIOP – Increasing the sustainable use of airports as it aims to develop and improve the services related to the air transport system of one of the 21 airports in Romania, facilitating the achievement of the expected passenger flow in Romania of 20 million passengers in Romania, namely the increase of the volume of passengers transited through Romanian airports. In terms of contribution to the achievement of LIOP result indicators, OS 2.3, the successful implementation of the project determines the realisation of the programme indicator ID 2S17 – Modernised Airports (number): 1 upgraded airport, i.e. indicator ID 2S13 – Passengers embarked and disembarked in airport transport (million passengers/year): 2.017.268 persons, in the context of a national target value 2023: 20 million passengers/year. In order to achieve the overall objective of the project, the following technical objective has been set: Compliance with existing EU regulations: the IDP equipment and the integrated system must comply with the requirements of EU Regulation No 139/2014. In order to achieve this objective, the equipment currently used in security control flows will be replaced as a result of Community regulations for alignment with European standards and requirements.
