Completing the level of knowledge of biodiversity by implementing the system for monitoring the conservation status of bird species of Community interest in Romania and reporting on the basis of Article 12 of the Birds Directive 2009/147/EC

The general objective of the project is to monitor the bird species of Community interest in Romania present on the reference list, to estimate the size of the populations, their distribution and the short-term and long-term trends in order to draw up the national report in accordance with the provisions of Article 12 of Directive 2009/147/EC on the conservation of wild birds. Project purpose – The project aims to carry out proper monitoring of the populations of bird species of community interest in our country. At the same time, the project provides the necessary preparation to support the reporting scheduled for 2019 as provided for in Article 12 of the Birds Directive (Directive 2009/147/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on the conservation of wild birds). The project also aims to develop a set of measures for the conservation of bird species of community importance to maintain or improve their favourable conservation status. The dissemination and awareness raising activities in order to present the project and its results are addressed both to the general public and to local authorities and investors in the economic sector. Different activities/sub-activities were foreseen to meet each specific objective. In addition, 2 activities of a general nature were foreseen: Activity A.7.
