The overall design of the project includes the following: Anti-flood works and works for the settlement of a part of Fr. Aliakmonas, about 2,300 m long, from the “Skalki” position until downstream of the contribution of Fr. Aliakmonas with the Fr. Stravopotamos (or Gklelovo) which in summary relates to projects to settle the bed and the construction of flood barriers for the receipt of estimated flood supplies. Technical works complementary and supporting the settlement projects, such as the construction of an energy destruction basin downstream of the existing new bridge, construction of the Ogee-type overflow, reconstruction of the tiers of the new bridge, protection of the intermediate platforms of the existing old bridge, construction of a new pedestrian bridge linking flood barriers as well as technical works related to the settlement and reconstruction of the existing irrigation channel as well as its functionality. Additionally include additional projects that are directly related to the proposed flood control works or affect their technical integrity if they are constructed in a second phase of construction, such as earthworks and basic infrastructure works, which will be used in a subsequent phase of construction. It also includes archaeological work and research (subproject 2) during the construction phase.
