The general objective of the project initiated by the Archdiocese of Arges and Muscel (Arges and Muscel Eparchy) is to boost the development of Curtea de Arges, Arges County and South Muntenia region, with a focus on increasing the importance of local cultural tourism, as a stimulating factor in the economic development of the South Muntenia region, respecting the principles of sustainable development and environmental protection, through conservation, restoration and maintenance of the cultural heritage and traditional Romanian culture. The development of the tourism sector in Arges county could also contribute to the development of related economic sectors, thus leading to an increase in labour supply with direct impact in creating new jobs. The cultural heritage objective, the Arges Monastery, once protected and valued, together with the other tourist attractions existing on the territory of Arges County and South Muntenia region can directly contribute to the development of the tourism sector, one of the sectors with the highest potential to offer growth and economic development at local and regional level. This sector has a multiplier effect that acts as a dynamic element of the economic system, generating a specific demand for goods and services, which leads to an increase in their production, directly contributing to the diversification and stimulation of the development of local/regional/national economy sectors. The consolidation, restoration and development/refunctionalisation of the existing spaces related to the four buildings – historical monuments on which will be intervened through the project initiated by the Archdiocese of Arges and Muscel (Eparchy of Arges and Muscel), parts of the Arges Monastery ensemble is based on the policy of sustainable development of the cultural heritage, which together with its sustainable promotion can have a positive effect both on the economic revival of the region and on the improvement of the quality of life.
