The aim of the “Patrimonium – Literary Monuments” project is to digitise and make available Polish literature monuments stored in the National Library and the Jagiellonian Library. The project responds to the need to make Polish literary monuments available online. The project allows the continuation of the “Patrimonium – digitisation and access to the Polish national heritage from the collections of the National Library and the Jagiellonian Library” (01,2017-01,2020) of the National Library and Jagiellonian Library in the field of digitisation of library collections, with particular emphasis on the National Library Stock. The project includes the following tasks: digitisation and availability of BN and BJ special collections, promotion of the Project and its products, comprehensive project management and coordination. The project responds to the expectations of the target groups: individual users – in particular students, teachers and lecturers, cultural institutions using digital resources for statutory activities and the cultural market. Thanks to the project being prepared for implementation, more than 140,000 digital objects will go to open online resources, especially special collections that have not yet been digitised. The focus on the special collections in the Project is due to the particular nature of these objects, the conservation requirements, the limitations of the making available of material copies and their uniqueness. All selected resources belong to the public domain, which allows them to be made available without any restrictions, with the possibility of re-use. The resource made available in Polona will meet any interoperability framework, the IIIF standard, and the WCAG access portal at the level required by the KRI. This will make it possible to make the widest possible use of the project’s effects – both by individual users, institutions, as well as other services providing cultural content.
